New Delhi: BSF will celebrate its 12th Investiture Ceremony on 22 nd May 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. According to BSF sources, the founding father of BSF Shri Khusro Faramurz Rustamji (K F Rustamji), IP was born on 22 nd May 2014 and died on 02nd March 2003. In remembrance of founding father, BSF traditionally celebrating Investiture Ceremony every year on 22nd May as it is the Birth date of Shri K F Rustamji, that is the reason BSF Investiture Ceremony is celebrated on 22nd May every year. This is the 98th Birth Anniversary of Shri Rustamji.
On this auspicious occasion, Border Security Force honouring and rewarding the gallant officers and men of BSF in recognition of the sacrifices and valiant contribution made by them.
BSF Investiture ceremony started on 22nd May 2003 and this is 12th Investiture Ceremony.
To compliment legacy of Shri Rustamji, an Idea wad mooted in 2006 to conduct Rustamji memorial lecture every year on his birth anniversary in which eminent personalities and visionaries would deliver a talk on varied issues concerning national security. Which have a direct or indirect bearing in BSF and its role. The first lecture was delivered by Shri K Subrahmanyam the then NSA in 2006 and from then onwards it has been an annual affair. This year Shri Nehchal Sandhu, Dy NSA (National Security Advisor) will deliver a lecture on subject ‘BSF – The Way Ahead’. This is the 9thRustamji memorial lecture.
During the BSF Investiture Ceremony 2014, eleven (11) gallant men will be awarded with Police medal for gallantry. Out of Eleven, Six are Posthumously awarded with Police Medal for Gallantry. During the Ceremony 21 BSF Officer and men decorated with Police Medal for meritorious Service.
