New Delhi: The Congress party is heading towards a powerful position to face the Delhi Assembly elections, and the party’s mounting political strength and popularity is increasing the demand for other leaders to join the Congress party. In this connection, Municipal Councillor and influential leader of the Poorvanchal community Shri Satendra Rana, Municipal Councillor Smt. Rekha Vashisht, Municipal Councillor Shri Jeevan Lal, BJP leader Dr Veerpal, and former BSP MLA candidate for the Devli Assembly constituency Shri Kishore Kumar Rajora today joined the Congress party. These leaders joined the Congress Party at a press conference held at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan, in the precence of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Arvinder Singh, ex-CLP leader Haroon Yusuf and chief spokesperson Shri Mukesh Sharma.
Shri Arvinder Singh said the Congress Party would put up a very good show in the coming Delhi Assembly elections. He said the increasing popularity of the Congress party was evident from the recent survey which showed an increase in the vote bank of the party and that in the Assembly elections, it will be a direct between the Congress and the BJP. He said during the past 11 months, the development works in Delhi had come to a grinding halt. He said despite the start of the winter weather, the people of Delhi were being forced to suffer power cuts. He blamed the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP for the present plight of Delhi, and said the pension of thousands of old people, widows and the handicapped have been stopped.
The Congress party will be holding a function to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on November 13, 2014 (Thursday) at 10.30 a.m at the Talkatora indoor stadium, in which Congress workers from all parts of Delhi will participate. Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Shri Rahul Gandhi will address the gathering.
