In a bid to give the new thrust to the
much awaited the Good and Services Tax Bill, it will be taken up by Lok Sabha tomorrow. The
situation inside the house is favourable for the bill and it is expected to be passing
in the Lok Sabha.
It is noted that Rajya Sabha has passed the bill earlier with
amendments and those will be again approved by the Lok Sabha.
BJP and Congress both parties have has
already issued a whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs asking them to be present in the
house.
Needless to say, after its passage in
the Lok Sabha, the Bill will go to state assemblies for ratification.
It is noted that there was much
obstacles in the way for the Bill but it become a major success for the Modi government
when it was passed by Rajya Sabha earlier. The GST is aimed at bringing uniform tax regime in
the country by subsuming state levies.
It is expected that under it, a single
rate of GST will replace various taxes to ensure seamless transfer of goods and
services.
