In
a bid to create opportunities of
cooperation and research in various domains of knowledge, the Jamia Millia
Islamia (JMI) entered into an academic collaboration with Payame Noor
University of Islamic Republic of Iran. The collaboration would lead to
exchange of faculty and students and synergize joint-research, conferences and
workshops. This would also involve sharing of academic data and publications.
Speaking
on the occasion, Prof. Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, JMI hoped that the
collaboration would enable researchers, linguists and young scientists to make
forays in inter-disciplinary areas of learning.
Dr.
Prof. Ali Asghar Rostami Abousaidi, Chancellor, Payame Noor University,
expressed his keenness to establish facilitation centres for promotion of
academic research and cooperation in both the universities.
The
MoU signing ceremony was attended by the representatives from Embassy of the
Islamic Republic of Iran and senior officials of JMI.
Payame
Noor University is one of the largest public universities in Iran with 31
provincial centres and several campuses around the world. It was established in
1988 under the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. It has over 4000
academic members and 8 lakhs national and international students.
