Delhi: LG Najeeb Jung resignation, Congress doubt a deal between Modi-Kejriwal
New Delhi: Amid the much hue and cry over the resignation of the LG of Delhi, Najeeb Jung, Congress has demanded that Modi’s Central Government should explain the reasons behind the “unceremonious exit” of Lt. Governor today.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken said  everyone wanted to know whether there was any deal between Narendra Modi and Shri Aravind Kejriwal in the sudden resignation of Dr Jung as he was apparently under pressure, or whether the BJP and the Central Government want to bring in an RSS-connected or RSS-supported person  as the LG of Delhi.

Delhi: LG Najeeb Jung resigned, Kejriwal says-surprised

Maken said in the MCD bye-elections in Delhi in May, 2016, the BJP, which held 11 out of the 13 seats that went to polls, had finished third and perhaps that also went against Dr Jung. Congress gaining gound in Delhi and defeating BJP in the MCD bye-polls has scared both BJP and AAP.

Maken said that Congress party will come out on the streets to protest if an RSS-connected or RSS-supported person is appointed as the Lt. Governor of Delhi.

It is noted that Vijay Kapoor served as the Lt. Governor of Delhi for six years (from 20-4-1998 to 9-6-2004), Shri B.L.Joshi remained as the LG for three years from 9-6-2004 to 9-4-2007 before he was promoted as Governor while Shri Tejinder Khanna served as the Lt. Governor for six years and three months (9-4-2007 to 9-7-2013). Dr Najeeb Jung, who was appointed as the Lt. Governor of Delhi on 9th July, 2013 had completed only three years before his exit. Dr Jung was appointed to the post because of his administrative abilities.

It is noted that Lt Governor Shri Najeeb Jung has submitted his resignation to the Government of India. He thanks the Prime Minister for all the help and cooperation he received during his tenure as the Lt. Governor of Delhi.

Jung also thanks the people of Delhi for all their support and affection, especially during the one year’s President Rule in Delhi, when he got unstinted support from them and which in turn helped run the administration in Delhi smoothly and effortlessly.
