Things you should know about Nirmala Sitaraman, New Defence Minister

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's move to the women empowermene has strongly displayed in his decision when his government given the security of the country to Nirmala Sitaraman, the only second defence minister for the country.

Here we are presenting the important facts about the Nirmala Sitaraman, the newly appointed the defence minister of the country.

Nirmala Sitaraman belongs to Tiruchirapalli district of Tamil Nadu. Her father was a Railways employee.

She graduated from Seethalakshmi Ramasamy College which is situated in the  Tiruchirappalli district of Tamil Nadu.

Later she came to Delhi and joined Jawaharlal Nehru University  from where she completed her masters.
In  1986, Nirmala Sitharaman married  to Parakala Prabhakar.

Although her family including he rhusband Prabhakar has soft congress for Congress but  Nirmala Sitharaman  joined the BJP in 2006.
In 2003, it was prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who made her a member of the National Commission for Women (NCW).

It was 2010 when Nitin Gadkari was the party president, Nirmala Sitharama was made the spokesperson of the BJP.

in 2014 the Narendra Modi cabinet, she get a berth as the MoS Commerce Ministry with independent charge.
