Delhi govt. has come forward to revive the glory of Chandni Chowk for its historic glory and showcase its cultural heritage. The Dy CM of Delhi, Sh. Manish Sisodia, cabinet ministers Sh. Satyendar Jain and Sh. Imran Hussaain, along with the area MLA Smt. Alka Lamba inaugurated the ambitious redevelopment project for Chandni Chowk. The estimated cost of the project is about 65 Crores. It aims to restore & renew the glory of Chandni Chowk and take it to unprecedented heights.
Chandni Chowk is one of the most important streets in the historical city of Shahjahanabad, Delhi & this project's timely implementation within the next one - one and a half years will ease the lives of millions who flock the historic street as tourists, customers & traders. The project will decongest the street by restricting vehicular movement during the day, emergency vehicles being exceptions.

Addressing the large gathering, Dy CM & Tourism Minister Manish Sisodia said, "It's a pride moment for us all in Delhi 6 as it prepares to revive it's historic glory and showcase its culture, and the lifestyle of the people to the world. The vision is that no one who visits Chandni Chowk to shop, to explore, to buy or sell has to worry about the traffic jams. Even if someone has limited time, Delhi 6 should be convenient for everyone to visit easily. Every student knows of Nai Sarak for books, every house hold preparing for marriage keeps shopping here a priority, and the fame of paranthe waali gali & Giani's ice cream needs no introduction. The major re-construction & decongestion work will increase tourism & trade by manifolds."
PWD Minister Sh. Satyendar Jain said, "This much awaited project is being talked about for the last 10-12 years, but no progress was made. Many people say that Chandni Chowk is very crowded, some see that as a challenge, but with the implementation of this project, I see that as an opportunity for the traders. I congratulate MLA Smt. Alka Lamba to have mediated between the Ministry & the community to bring about the acceptability for the project in the people of Delhi 6. I can vouch that once the beautification is done, the 5Cr citizens living in Delhi NCR will visit some day or the other within a year. Imagine the kind of business it will generate for the traders."
