- Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born on February 19, 1630 at Shivneri Fort.
- It has been said that Shivaji's mother prayed to the goddess Shivai for a son and she was blessed with a son and finally he was named after the goddess Shivai.
- Shivaji Maharaj was the first to introduce the techniques of guerrilla warfare through his Maratha army. Shivaji is also credited for the formation of the Navy.
- Shivaji Maharaj tried to eliminate the language of his time, which was Persian. Under this, he also promoted the use of regional languages like Marathi and Sanskrit in court and administration.
