The exercise will be held in two phases - the Harbour Phase from 17 to 18 December and the Sea Phase from 19 to 20 December. Initiated in 2005, SLINEX is a significant series of bilateral naval exercises that have strengthened maritime cooperation between India and Sri Lanka over the years. </div>Participating Units:From India: Indian Naval Ship INS Sumitra, a Naval Offshore Patrol   Vessel of the Eastern Fleet, along with a Special Forces team.        From Sri Lanka: SLNS Sayura, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, with an     embarked Special Forces team.The inaugural ceremony of the exercise is scheduled on 17 Dec 24, marking the beginning of the Harbour Phase. During this phase, participants will engage in professional and social exchanges to strengthen mutual understanding.The Sea Phase, commencing on 19 December, will feature joint exercises, including Special Forces operations, gun firings, communication drills, seamanship practices, navigation evolutions, and helicopter operations. Over the years, SLINEX has expanded in scope, enabling both navies to enhance interoperability and share best practices. The 2024 edition aims to further reinforce the strong maritime ties between India and Sri Lanka while promoting a safe, secure, and rules-based maritime environment.

The Government has finalized 7 sites viz. Tamil Nadu (Virudhnagar), Telangana (Warangal), Gujarat (Navsari), Karnataka (Kalaburagi), Madhya Pradesh (Dhar), Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow), Maharashtra (Amravati) for setting up of PM MITRA Parks.</div>Once completed, it is envisaged that each park will lead to an investment (both foreign and domestic) of about Rs. 10,000 crores, benefiting the local economy and textile ecosystem.Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) in respect of all 5 Greenfield sites viz. Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have been incorporated.  In respect of Brownfield sites viz. Maharashtra and Telangana, the existing implementation arrangements has been allowed to continue as per guidelines.Under PM MITRA Park Scheme, for development of Greenfield PM MITRA and Brownfield PM Park, there is a provision of Development Capital Support (DCS) for creation of core infrastructure @30% of the project cost with a maximum support of Rs.500 Cr and Rs.200 Crore per park for Greenfield and Brownfield PM MITRA respectively from the Government of India.   In addition, Competitive Incentive Support (CIS) to individual units subject to a maximum of Rs. 300 crores per Park and further subject to Scheme guidelines is also provided under PM-MITRA for incentivizing manufacturing units to get setup early in PM MITRA Parks.This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Textiles, Shri Pabitra Margherita in a written reply today in the Rajya Sabha.

The Note is accessible at RBI’s website (https://www.rbi.org.in/Scripts/PublicationReportDetails.aspx?UrlPage=&ID=1218).  Union Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary informed the news in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha. The Minister state that the CBDC pilot launched by the RBI in retail segment has components based on blockchain technology.The RBI has launched pilots of CBDC in both Wholesale and Retail segments. The pilot in wholesale segment, known as the Digital Rupee -Wholesale (e₹-W), was launched on November 1, 2022, with use case being limited to the settlement of secondary market transactions in government securities. Use of (e₹-W), is expected to make the inter-bank market more efficient. Settlement in central bank money would reduce transaction costs by pre-empting the need for settlement guarantee infrastructure or for collateral to mitigate settlement risk. The pilot in retail segment, known as digital Rupee-Retail (e₹-R), was launched on December 01, 2022, within a closed user group (CUG) comprising participating customers and merchants.The Minister further stated that the RBI has identified eight banks for phase-wise participation in the retail pilot project. The first phase includes four banks, namely the State Bank of India, the ICICI Bank, the Yes Bank and the IDFC First Bank. Subsequently, another four banks, viz., the Bank of Baroda, the Union Bank of India, the HDFC Bank and the Kotak Mahindra Bank will participate in the retail pilot.RBI has already rolled out a pilot in the retail version of the CBDC (e₹-R), on December 01, 2022. The e₹-R is in the form of a digital token that represents legal tender. It is being issued in the same denominations as the paper currency and coins. It is being distributed through financial intermediaries, i.e., the banks. Users will be able to transact with e₹- R through a digital wallet offered by the participating banks. Transactions can be both Person to Person (P2P) and Person to Merchant (P2M). The e₹-R offers features of physical cash like trust, safety and settlement finality. Like cash, the CBDC will not earn any interest and can be converted to other forms of money, like deposits with banks.On the other steps being taken by RBI for full operationalisation of CBDC include expanding  the  scope  of  the  pilots  gradually  to  include  more  banks,  users and locations based on feedback received during the pilots, the Minister stated

More than 60% increase in population has been recorded. Cheetahs - brought from Namibia - are being introduced in India under Project Cheetah, which is world's first inter-continental large wild carnivore translocation project. Out of the eight Cheetahs there are five female and three male Cheetahs.The Prime Minister released Cheetahs at two release points in Kuno National Park. The Prime Minister also interacted with Cheetah Mitras, Cheetah Rehabilitation Management Group and students at the venue. The Prime Minister addressed the Nation on this historic occasion.The release of wild Cheetahs by the Prime Minister in Kuno National Park is part of his efforts to revitalise and diversify India’s wildlife and its habitat. The cheetah was declared extinct from India in 1952. The Cheetahs that would be released are from Namibia and have been brought under an MoU signed earlier this year. The introduction of Cheetah in India is being done under Project Cheetah, the world’s first inter-continental large wild carnivore translocation project.Cheetahs will help restore open forest and grassland ecosystems in India.
