Tips by IAS Toppers Ayushi Dabas and Pooja Jha

The sixth session of Delhi Government’s Motivational Speaker Series for students of Delhi Government Schools was conducted in which UPSC 2021 toppers Ayushi Dabas and Pooja Jha shared their preparation experiences with the students.

The said speaker series is a unique initiative launched by the Delhi Government, where the young IAS / I.P.S officers share their experiences related to studies and preparation for competitive exams like UPSC, with the children of Delhi government schools through direct interaction. This creates understanding among the students about these exams and helps them in making their study plans.

It is to be noted that Ayushi Dabas was a lecturer of History at GBSSS Mubarakpur and she had secured 48th rank in UPSC 2021. Pooja Jha was a student of RPVV, Sector 10, Dwaraka and secured 82nd rank  and got selected for IFS (Indian Foriegn Services).

While interacting with the students, Ayushi Dabas said, “The bigger you dream, the bigger challenges you will face, but education is the only tool by which you can change your life.” UPSC topper Ayushi Dabas said that she faced failure many times and cleared the exam in fifth attempt but never gave up and was always motivated towards her goal.

Tips by Ayushi Dabas To The Students---

  1. Students should never let any negative thoughts come to their mind and always remain positive.
  2.  Many times people will try to demotivate you but you should always answer them with your work instead of your words.
  3. Students should not be afraid of making mistakes and should learn from them.
  4. Along with being positive, students should maintain the time-table for preparation.
  5. Try to learn from the surroundings too.
  6. Three mantras with students to be successful in life- competition, corporation and contribution. 
  7. Students should always compete to make their life better, but this competition should be healthy.This will ensure success in life.


UPSC Topper Pooja Jha said that she feels great to be back in the school where she studied till Class VIII. She said, “Whenever I used to see an officer in my school, I always aspired to be like them and now that dream has been fulfilled. This school taught me to work hard, focus and maintain discipline.” 

Tips By Pooja Jha...

  1. Students should accept every challenge that comes in their life, and not run away from it.
  2. Education can change their life and they should make studies their priority. 
  3. Along with studies, students need to focus on their skills too. This is the need of the hour.
  4. Students should read their NCERT books very thoroughly.
  5. Students should work hard, stay focused on studies and believe in themselves. 
  6. Preparation of UPSC, guidance and mentorship is very much needed and students must choose them wisely.
