1. UNESCO added 18 sites to the Global Geopark Network, bringing the total number of geoparks in 48 countries to 213. The new geoparks are located in Brazil, China, Croatia, Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Portugal and Spain.

UNESCO : It is called the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. It is a specialised agency of the United Nations (UN). 

It aims to build peace through international co-operation in Education, Sciences and Culture.

Global Geoparks Network : It is a non-profit International Association officially established in 2014 subject to French legislation. It is the official partner of UNESCO for the operation of the UNESCO Global Geoparks.

2. IIT Madras alumnus Pawan Davuluri has been appointed as the new head of Microsoft Windows and Surface.

3. Nidhu Saxena was appointed as MD&CEO of Bank of Maharashtra.

4. Odisha Day or Utkal Day is celebrated on 1 April. Utkal Divas celebrates the establishment of Odisha on April 1, 1936, due to its separation from Bihar and Orissa provinces during British rule.

5. On completion of 90 years of Reserve Bank of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative coin of Rs 90.

6. The famous Sanjhi craft of Mathura was given a GI tag by the Government of India. The Sanjhi craft involves composing and drawing a motif from the Krishna legend, cutting a stencil using small, fine, customised scissors on paper or a banana leaf. Then the stencil is used to create the images.
