Mid Day Meal: SDMC given zero tolerance with the children health

New Delhi: Taking a note to the Mid Day Meal tragedy in Bihar, SDMC has come in action and gave a message to the concerned authority that zero tolerance policy will be implemented here. In this regards, chairman Education Committee, South Delhi Municipal Corporation, Satish Upadhyay made visit with senior officials of Education Department to various pantries of NGOs who supply mid-day meal in SDMC schools.

Upadhyay also directs to collect the samples of mid-day meal from five schools of Central Zone and directed the officials, principal, incharge and related persons to check the food themselves first as per rules before distributing the same to children. In addition to this, Mr. Upadhyay laid emphasis upon tightening security to avoid outside interference by any persons.

Chairman, Education Committee, SDMC gave directions to officials with regard to disbtribution of mid-day meals and to avoid carelessness also take stern action against the defaulters. The full weekly details of mid-day meal should be displayed on notice board and these list/details should not confine to Zonal level but must be sent to HQ.

Upadhyay said that no compromise will be tolerated in the nutritional value of the food which results in bad impact on the children health. He instructed the Director (Education) Shri Sushil Singh that the sampling of mid-day meals should be checked at officer level weekly by notified labs only.

She exhorted people to avail benefit of the scheme as the city government has made elaborate arrangements to formally launch the scheme on 20th August, 2013. She also stated that her government has always been concerned about the poor and other vulnerable sections.

Dikshit stated that Delhi is known for its quality education in the country. The government has strived hard to bring a sea change in school education. The results of Class-10th & 12th CBSE exams are testimony to it. Delhi as well as many parts of the country have been offering attractive employment opportunities. The circle of brain-drain is witnessing reverse trend. We have also established six state level universities. GGS I.P. University alone is offering thousands of seats in professional and technical education through its more than 100 affiliated colleges. The government has also commissioned a separate university for social sciences.

Dikshit stated that the biggest achievement of our government at Centre had been introduction of Right to Education. This has facilitated the city government to open more and more schools. Mere opening of schools and putting in place the modern infrastructure are not going to serve the purpose. Hence, the government is also concentrating on the efficiency, expertise and capabilities of the teachers. Smt. Dikshit cautioned people not to be carried away by the tall promises being made by certain political parties.

Addressing to the students here, Modi was in full fledge and questioned Congress policies and steps. He questions the much awaited Food Security Bill which is learnt to be the major tools for Congress. Modi said that today people want action and not only acts.

Modi raised the question mark on the Congress move to eliminating poverty from nation. He said that Congress had made promise to eliminate poverty 35 years ago but still it prevails in country.

He said that someone should ask them that what happened with their promised made before 35 years ago. He was refereeing the India Gandhi’s slogan of Garibi Hatao in the 1971.

He slammed Congress policies and said that the party has been facing many troubles on all fronts but only to hide the issues, it has been creating a veil of secularism. He said that party raise the issue of secularism only to deviate its failure and so that no one can ask them about their failure.

He said that a small country like South Korea hosted the Olympic and it done well on the international horizon for its appreciation. But India organized a small event like Commonwealth games and we made fun of ourselves. In fact India lost its respect internationally due to bad tag of this game.
