New Delhi: North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee today unanimously passed a proposal to increase yearly encouragement amount to approximately 1.85 lakh girl students studying in about 765 primary schools of the Corporation from Rs. 200 to Rs 500 each student. For this purpose, a sum of Rs. 9 crore has been earmarked.

Leader of the House in North Delhi Municipal Corporation and member of the Standing Committee, Mr. Mahinder Nagpal said children studying in Corporation schools come from economically weaker background. Besides, he added that the number of drop out students from schools is mostly girls.

“Considering the economic background of these students, the Corporation has unanimously taken a decision to increase the amount given to girl students as encourage amount so that they are encouraged to continue their studies,” said Mr. Nagpal.
