With the arrest of Tannu Chawla Delhi and aged 30 years Central District police has solved a blind murder case of a sex worker at G.B Road, Delhi, which took place on 02-01-2013 in the area of P.S. Kamla Market, Delhi.

According to Alok Kumar, DCP, Central District, an information was received at the police station Kamla market through one Sarfaraz r/o Ajmeri Gate, Delhi that he was the caretaker of brothel house No-57. In the morning when he reached at brothel house, he observed that one girl namely Neha was not present. On enquiry, he came to know that on the previous night she went to a room with a customer and had not been seen thereafter. On this, he checked the room and found her lying in a pool of blood.

On this, SHO/Kamla Market along with the staff reached the spot and found the dead body of deceased Neha in a room at the first floor of brothel house. After inspection of the body and scene of crime, a case vide FIR No- 02/14, u/s 302 IPC was registered at P.S. Kamla Market and the investigation was taken up.

A team comprising of Inspr. Pramod Joshi, SHO/kamla Market, S.I. Rakesh Kumar, ASI Pramod, HC Naresh, HC Anil, HC Pradeep, Ct Sandeep, Ct. Yogesh, and Ct. Dhara Singh was constituted under the close supervision of Sh. Pranav Tayal, ACP/Daryaganj, Central District to apprehend the accused persons.

During investigation, it came to notice that the customer who accompanied the deceased during night was her regular customer and the deceased used to talk to him on cell phone. The cell phone of the deceased was recovered from the spot. Efforts were made to trace the accused person through technical surveillance and developing criminal intelligence.

During investigation and on the basis of technical surveillance, the assailants were identified as Tannu Chawla and Yogesh Delhi. Continuous raids were conducted at their houses as well as other possible hideouts. On 05-01-2014, a secret information was received that both accused persons would come at Metro Station.

A trap was laid near Metro Station and on the pointing out of the informer, accused persons were apprehended by the police team, when they were trying to flee away.

During sustained interrogation, accused Tannu Chawla disclosed that he is from a reputed family. His father died when he was just three years old. He has studied up to 6th standard. He fell in the company of bad elements and started visiting G. B. Road. In the year 2010, he met a Bengali girl at GB Road and married her. He had a son from that wedlock. After the marriage he continued visiting GB Road and met another girl namely Neha, who hailed from Andhra Pradesh and fell in love with her. He told Neha to leave prostitution and live with him but she stated that she was under heavy debt due to which she could not leave this profession.

The accused sold his house, shop and took loan from various financers on heavy interest rate and gave to the deceased. In the month of December, he pressurised the deceased to come out of G B Road and live with him but she refused. On this, he became furious and decided to eliminate her. He asked his friend Yogesh to help him. Yogesh, who was working as a driver in a school in south Delhi, was under debt of Rs.1.5 Lacs. He agreed to help him on the condition that Tannu would give him Rs. 1.5 Lacs.

On 1/01/2014 Tannu bought a knife from Sohna Chowk, Gurgaon and came along with Yogesh at G B Road at around 9 PM. Tannu went with Neha in a room however Yogesh stayed with another girl. At around 6 AM when Neha was asleep, both of them went to her room, Yogesh closed the mouth of Neha and Tannu stabbed her with knife. Thereafter both fled away from the spot.
