New Delhi: Polling began for the fifth phase of the general election 2014 across 12 states in the country. The polling will decide the fate of candidates in 121 constituencies of the country.
According to sources, it is expected that more than 195 million voters are eligible to cast their vote and will decide the fate of the 1762 candidates in this phase.
In Uttar Pradesh, voting for 11 constituencies today where as in Bihar, voting for seven seats is being held today.
Voting for 10 seats in Madhya Pradesh being held today including Bhopal and Gwalior. In West Bengal, Polling for fifth phase is all set for four seats whereas for Chhattisgarh, polling for three seats is schedule for today.
In Odisha, polling for 11 seats and in Maharashtra, for 19 seats is scheduled for the fifth phase.
Balloting for all 28 seats in Karnataka starts today.
Jharkhand-six seats, Jammu and Kashmir-one seat, Manipur-one seat.
Out of the 121 seats, BJP had won total 44 seats earlier in 2009 election. This phase is also very crucial for the BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Congress had own total 37 seats in 2009 of the 121 seats.
