Delhi: Noted singer and actor Daler Mehendi said that his foundation is working
in the direction of planting and it has 8 lakh saplings. He was in the capital
during such a move with the Mayor of MCD.
Mayor
of North Delhi,Mr Ravinder Gupta,Mayor of East Delhi, Mr Harsh Malhotra and
famous Punjabi Singer,Mr Daler Mehndi today planted saplings at Azmal Khan Park
to mark the three day plantation drive after Dipawali.
The
drive planned for 12-14 November for the first time on the occasion of Deepawli
to sensitize the citizens about environment protection by North DMC and East
DMC in collaboration with Red Fm who has changed the name from Red to Green for
the sake and Daler green foundation.
Mayor
North Mr Ravinder Gupta on the occasion
said that this initiative is in public interest for improvement of the
environment of the city. Hence, all possible help is being provided to the drive in terms of space or
plants.
Mayor
East Mr Harsh Malhotra said that greening of the city is most important
specially East Delhi,as most of the area is unplanned, more efforts need to be
put in .Such drive certainly help in greening as well educating public about
its importance and seeking their cooperation.
Mr
Daler Mehendi informed that his
foundation working in the direction has planted more than 8 lakh saplings.
Greening of thickly populated areas like Karol Bagh is very important for
improving environment of the city.
Director
(Press&Inf) North and East DMCs Mr Yogendra Singh Mann said that during the
drive 10 thousand trees and shrubs are
being planted at different locations. Radio
