Despite all difficulties, there is a good news for Delhities as it has witnessed 10 % growth in per capita income of Delhi for the year 2016-17, which is higher than the national growth rate.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mr Manish Sisodia congratulated the residents of Delhi for reduction in consumption of Diesel during the current year (2017) in comparison to previous years, an indication of growing awareness towards curbing air pollution.
Per capita income
Mr Sisodia also highlighted over 10 % growth in per capita income of Delhi for the year 2016-17, which is higher than the national growth rate.
This information was provided by the Deputy Chief Minister in his statement on the occasion of the release of the Delhi Statistical Hand Book – 2017, prepared by the Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Delhi government.
This handbook contains data relating to various socio-economic parameters in 23 broad chapters. Salient features of this year’s statistics are as follows :
The per capita income of Delhi is estimated at Rs. 3,03,073/- for the year 2016-2017 and it has increased by 10.76% from 2015-16, as compared to 9.7% at national level. The per capita income at the national level is Rs. 1,03,219 during 2016-2017.
Consumption of diesel
The consumption of diesel in Delhi has decreased from 15,08,000 Metric Tons during 2015-16 to 12,67,000 Metric Tons During 2016-17. On the other hand, consumption of petrol also marginally increased from 9,02,000 Metric Tons to 9,06,000 Metric Tons during the same period.
Total number of new vehicles registered in Delhi was 7.78 lakh in 2016-17, including registration of 29690 E-rickshaws. The total number of registered vehicles in Delhi upto March 2017 was 1.05 crore. Out of total registered vehicles, the number of cars/jeeps was 31.53 lakh and the number of motorcycles/scooters was 67.08 lakh.
DTC
DTC bus services were availed by 31.55 lakh average daily passengers during 2016-17. The total strength of fleet of DTC buses is 4027 of which 1275 buses are air conditioned. The number of reported road accidents has decreased from 8085 during 2015 to 7375 during the year 2016.
The total number of telephones in Delhi service area as on 30th November, 2016 was 5.23 crore of which the number of wire line telephones was 32.07 lakh and wireless telephones was 4.91 crores.
Rates of monthly wages
The minimum rates of monthly wages has increased from Rs 9568/- in April 2016 to Rs. 13,350/- in April 2017 for unskilled category, and from Rs 10,582/- to Rs 14.698/- for semi skilled and from Rs 11,622/- to Rs. 16,182/- for skilled category of workers.
Water connections
The total number of metered water connections increased from 19.49 lakh in 2015-16 to 23.16 lakh in 2016-17. The water consumption is 14914 lakh kilo litres in 2016-17. The per capita consumption of water in Delhi is 47 gallons per day.
