Chhath Puja 2020: Unique Combination to Worship which Propagates the Values of Simplicity, Purity and Discipline
Chhath Puja 2024:
 Chhath Puja which is set to be celebrated from November 05, 2024 onwards.  Chhath Puja 2024 is the cherished Hindu festival dedicated to Lord Surya (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya. One of the festival dedicated to extreme devotion which is widely observed across the states of Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal. According to Hindu panchang, the four-day festival begins on the sixth day of the lunar month of Kartika, just after six days after from Diwali.
Chhath Puja is the emblem to concludes with maintaining the Values of Simplicity, Purity and Discipline. Generally according to the traditional calendar, the Evening Offering to Sun is observed on the Sashti Tithi of the Kartik month, Shukla Paksha.
On the day of the Evening Offerings, devotees use to offers the lord Sun and visits to the near about area on the bank of river or ponds where devotees and her family gathered to offer Arghya to the setting Sun.

Devotees with their family members and also the entire locality and people use to gather on the bank of the river/pond and it creates an unique sense of celebration which can be termed as a carnival.As the triumph of Chhath Puja is on high and in fact Chhath Puja has its own great importance for not only with only spiritual or religious aspects, rather Chhath Puja has its own significance in which worship Sun and also Chhathi Mata (Goddess Chhathi).


 The worship of Surya and ChhathiMaiya is unique to the traditions and propagates values of simplicity, purity and discipline.

Chhath Puja 2023 is performed on Kartik Shukala Shashti which is generally used to celebrate after exactly 6 days after Deepawali. According to the Hindi Calender, the festival of Chhath Puja begins with the Nahay Khay which is the first phase of the grand celebration. All the major four phased for the  Chhath Pooja are-Nahay-Khay, Lohanda and Kharna, Sandhya Arghya and Usha Argh and Paran.

However Chhath Puja is basically originated from Bihar, but now a day’s Chhath Puja is celebrated in almost all part of the India. Not only in Bihar, it is Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the country of Nepal which can be termed as the strong region where Chhath Puja is celebrated with full fervor.

Chhath Puja which is a combination of long 4 day celebration started today with the Nahai-Khai..the first stage of the famous Chhathg Puja. Chhath Puja is one of the most auspicious festivals celebrated in Bihar and now it is being celebrated in other parts of India.

As you know the Chhath festivities begin with the Nahai-Khai ritual, followed by Kharna and then Evening and Morning offering to the Sun. People generally asks about the significance of the Chhath puja and certainly it is completely the case of faith of devotees and the mother Goddess Chhath mata. Festival period is on high in the atmospheres....Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhaiya Duj....and it can’t be complete without the mentioning the Chhath Puja. Needless to say, Chhath puja is an ancient Hindu festival in which devotees uses to worship Lord Surya and Chhathi Maiya (known to be the sister of Surya). In fact, Chhath Puja is directly related to the Sun God, who is supposed to be the source of all powers. During Chhath puja, we can say people use to worship not only the Sun, but they also use and worship such goods and commodities which are commonly ignored in normal life and also in many rituals and festivals.

When to Celebrate Chhath Puja
It is noted that Chhath puja is performed on Kartik Shukala Shashti. Generally it is used to celebrate after exactly 6 days after Deepawali. If you count to the kartik Month, it falls typically in the month of October or November.

First day Nahaay Khaay: Actually it is the first day of the celebration in which the devotees take a dip in a bid to be sacred to perform the Chhatth Puja. Generally devotees prefer in the river/ponds near their house.

Kharna is the day when devotees starts their fasts in which even they avoid to single drop of water and they observe a fast for the whole day. The fast ends in the evening a little after sunset when they worship the Chhatthi Maata and they offerings of Rasiao-kheer (rice delicacy), bananas, breads which made in the soil made pot.  From this day onwards, for the next 36 hours, the follower goes on a fast without water.

Third day Sandhya Arghya: It is the main day in which devotees offers the lord Sun in the evening known as evening offerings. The Chhath Puja is generaly celebrated in the near about area on the bank of river or ponds where devotees and her family gathered to offer Arghya to the setting Sun. The entire locality and people use to gather on the bank of the river/pond and it creates an unique sense of celebration which can be termed as a carnival. 


Fourth day Paaran: The last day of the long celebration of Chhath puja which ends with the offering to the Arghya to the rising Sun. People with the devotees once again use to gather the same riverbank before sunrise and wait for the sunrise. Paaran is commonly known as the last rituals of the Puja and it is the day when devotees break their fast.
