She received the award for the year 2021 for her outstanding work in affine algebraic geometry and commutative algebra.</div></span><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;"> On the behalf of Secretary and Department, Shri Sanjeev Varshney, Head, International Cooperation Division, DST, congratulated Dr. Neena Gupta and said that the award conferred to a female researcher will encourage other female researchers all around the world to take up mathematics as their career. “I am also sure that this recognition will motivate her further to expand research with more noteworthy outcomes in the future. It will also inspire the researchers and young mathematicians not only in our country but in the entire developing world, to undertake research in mathematical sciences,” he added.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The prize is awarded annually to a researcher from a developing country funded by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India in association with ICTP (International Centre for Theoretical Physics) and the International Mathematical Union (IMU).</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">It is given to young mathematicians less than 45 years of age who have conducted outstanding research in a developing country. It is supported by DST in the memory of Srinivasa Ramanujan, a genius in pure mathematics who was essentially self-taught and made spectacular contributions to elliptic functions, continued fractions, infinite series, and analytical theory of numbers.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Professor Gupta's solution for solving the Zariski cancellation problem, a fundamental problem in Algebraic Geometry, earned her the 2014 Young Scientists Award of the Indian National Science Academy (NSA). The NSA described her solution as ‘one of the best works in algebraic geometry in recent years done anywhere’. The problem was posed by one of the most eminent founders of modern Algebraic Geometry, Oscar Zariski, in 1949. In an interview with an American university, Gupta describes the problem as ---The cancellation problem asks that if you have cylinders over two geometric structures, and that have similar forms, can one conclude that the original base structures have similar forms?</span></p>

The produce of the fishermen and farmers will reach the market in the shortest possible time with minimum damage. Consequently, the income of my farmer and fishermen brothers and sisters will also increase. The rear portion of the tableau showed symbol of Buddhism and motto of UDAN- ‘Sab Uden, Sab Juden’. </span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The middle portion showcased Buddhist circuit featuring Buddha Statue at Gaya where he attained enlightenment, Dhamekh Stupa, Sarnath where he delivered his first sermon (Dharmachakra Parivartan) and the Mahaparinirvana Stupa, Kushinagar where he attained Mahaparinirvana. Both sides of the middle portion of the tableau depicted heritage sites- Humayun tomb from North, Konark sun temple in East, Hampi temple chariot in South and Ajanta caves in West, connected with air services.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Launched in 2016, UDAN scheme aims to fulfil the aspirations of the common man by following the vision of ‘Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik’ with an enhanced aviation infrastructure and air connectivity in tier II and III cities. In a short span of 5 years, today 403 UDAN routes connect 65 underserved/unserved airports, including heliports and water aerodromes, and over 80 lakh people have benefited from it. UDAN scheme has immensely benefitted several sectors pan-India including Hilly States, North-Eastern region and Islands.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">UDAN has a positive impact on the economy of the country and has witnessed an excellent response from industry stakeholders especially airlines operators and state government. More than 350 new city pairs are now scheduled to be connected under the scheme with 200 already connected  and are widely spread geographical providing connectivity across the length and breath of the country as well as ensuring balanced regional growth resulting in economic growth and employment to local population.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">The scheme also lead to development of new Green Field Airports such as Pakyong Airport near Gangtok in Sikkim, Tezu Airport in Arunachal Pradesh and Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. The scheme also led to 5% incremental growth in domestic passenger share of non-metro airports.</span></p>

Government is continuously encouraging these sectors to ensure that the benefits of digital banking reach every nook and corner of the country in a consumer-friendly manner. Assuming charge of the Council at its Executive Committee meeting held today, Shri  Goenka said, “We are witnessing a robust growth in apparel exports. Going by the export orders in hand, this positive trend will further accelerate in the last quarter”.  </div></span><p></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Apparel exports were 22% up at $1.46 billion in December 2021 from $1.20 billion in December 2020. The same in the first nine months of this fiscal stood at $11.13 billion, 35% more than $8.22 billion in April-December 2020. The trend is getting stronger.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Shri Goenka said that this major turnaround in apparel exports was possible due to the highly efficient management by the government led by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the entrepreneurial spirit of the Indian apparel exporters. Despite several disruptions in the global supply chain and demand, the Indian apparel industry demonstrated its resilience by gradually inching back to the pre pandemic growth path. By the end of this financial year, we will be looking at new targets, he said.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">“With global demand picking up gradually and industry reporting handsome orders in hand, apparel exports are likely to pick up in 2022. We need to strongly focus on efforts for promoting Brand India taking suitable measures to ensure sustainability and other social compliances,” he added.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">Shri  Goenka has been associated with the Council for more than two decades. He has initiated and completed infrastructure projects like the 162 Kms 8 lane Outer Ring Road, 90 MGD Krishna Phase-2 Drinking Water project, 90 MGD Godavari Drinking Water Project and many other Sewerage Treatment Plants. </span></li><li><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">He has played an instrumental role in setting up India’s Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau. At the last hour of poll, suchelectors shall be facilitated for casting their vote, strictly following COVID related preventive measures.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(4) Help Desk for distribution of token to the voters on first come first basis so that they do not wait in the queue.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(5) Markers to demonstrate social distancing for queue.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(6) Earmarking circle for 15-20 persons of 2 yards (6 feet) distance for voters standing in the queue depending on the availability of space. There shall be three queues each, for male, female, and</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">PwD/ Senior citizen voters.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(7) The services of BLOs, volunteers etc may be engaged to monitorand regulate social distancing norms strictly.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(8) One shaded waiting areas with chairs, dari etc. will be provided, for male and female separately, within the polling station premises</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(9) Wherever possible, Booth App shall be used at the polling station.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;"> (10) Face Masks will be kept in reserve for those electors who are not carrying their mask.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(11) Awareness posters on COVID should be displayed at visible locations.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(12) If polling agent or counting agent has temperature above the prescribed limit, then their reliever shall be allowed by Presiding Officer, who will keep a record of the same.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(13) During the process of identification of voter, voters will be required to lower their facemask for identification, when required.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: georgia; font-size: large;">(14) Hand gloves shall be provided to the voter, for signing on the voter register and pressing the button of EVM for voting.</span></p><p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: georgia;">(15) COVID patients and others who are quarantined will be allowed to cast their vote at the last hour of the poll on poll day at their respective Polling Stations, under the supervision of health </span><span style="font-family: georgia;">authorities, strictly following COVID related preventive measures. Sector Magistrates shall coordinate this in their allocated polling stations.
