New Delhi: BJP leader Nirmala Sitharaman said that with 5 phases of polling concluded in a 9 phase election, the Congress has started smelling a dismal failure. The signs of a historical defeat facing the Congress leadership is making them and their minions to speak, as though, in hallucination.
Beni Prasad Verma, the Congress candidate from Gonda, UP, has come up with an utterly irresponsible, baseless and completely malicious allegation against the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi. The audacity with which Shri Verma concedes that he has no evidence to level such a disgusting charge is simply shocking.
She said that his allegation and the earlier threat by Imran Masood, a Congress candidate from Saharanpur, UP, falls in the same league as the then Union Law Minister Mr Salman Khurshid.
The BJP finds a pattern in this matter. The Congress party has lost its equanimity. Whilst its vice-president may pontificate on the quality of language in public discourse, as per a plan, his mother Smt Sonia Gandhi and all the Congress Ministers go around the country continuing to speak ‘white lies’, leveling baseless charges, questioning ideologies which they don’t even understand, raising doubts about developmental achievements of BJP government which their own (UPA) government has awarded with trophies shows their desperation.
Mr Shashi Tharoor speaks of “bleeding” leadership without giving an answer about why his government failed in the matter of the Indian soldiers who were beheaded. The “bleeding” of Indian soldiers by Pakistan did not invoke any response from the Congress leadership. Where was Mr Tharoor when this ignominy was faced by the nation? The soldiers bleeding in the border did not bring this sense of outrage in Mr Tharoor who was a Cabinet Minister then.
The BJP shall approach the Election Commission to highlight that these are not sporadic comments inadvertently made, here and there. These comments, we allege, are made as per a pattern. Fearing the worst defeat, the Congress party wants to stoke fear in the mind of the voters.
She further said that party shall demand the Election Commission to cancel the candidature of Verma who being a minister in the Union Cabinet has made an irresponsible allegation.
Shri Verma surely is a history-sheeter in this matter. Even earlier, perhaps more than once Shri Verma has been pulled up by the EC for violating the code of conduct. For him now to repeat the offence clearly raises the question if he and his party respect the Election Commission at all. The BJP charges that the Congress party is periodically challenging the authority of the EC.
