Purification and Self-Preparation:

Kharna signifies the devotees' purification process, both physically and spiritually. Devotees abstain from non-vegetarian food, alcohol, and any intoxicants for four days leading up to Kharna. On the day of Kharna, they observe a strict fast, consuming only a single meal in the evening, consisting of kheer made from jaggery (gud) and a specific type of rice called arwa chawal. This simple and pure meal is believed to cleanse the body and mind, preparing them for the intense devotion and austerities to follow.
